Good staff, old fashioned 50's or 60's ambience, and good ice cream BUT must bring CASH.
My husband and I drove to this place because they were selling pumpkin soft-serve ice cream. I love trying seasonal desserts. I haven't visited this ice cream shop in so many years. It hasn't changed a bit. They still have minimal parking spaces which are located in the front of the store. You can also park on the street and walk over. As I walked through the door, I saw a sign that said "Cash only, thank you"; I was so glad I had cash on me. I went in and waited to be served. I bought a pint of pumpkin soft-serve ice cream for about $6, which was reasonable. It was a cute little ice cream shop in the middle of Dover and like I said nothing has changed. My family and I enjoyed the ice cream. It tasted just like pumpkin pie. Yum!! You have to try it while it is available. I'm looking forward to trying other flavors next time I'm in the area.
I always go here, I love the ice cream. There's so many options from what you can pick from also. They make it very fast to and they're so nice. It clean and bright, I would definitely recommend going here.
Finally came back here for some delicious snacks earlier in the week. Food: unpictured is the oreo Cookie Monster styled ice cream that my wife loves, but I only learned that they do a creamsicle ice cream (a mix of vanilla ice cream and orange sherbet) and I am in love. It is such a unique flavor mix that I didn't know I needed and I also learned later that it is possible down the shore, but I don't have to go that far for it! Aesthetic: standard ice cream parlor, I like the location albeit the parking is a little tough if the lot is busy. Service: great, hard working servers, can't imagine how busy they get! Also bonus photo of my little creamsicle Milo in the background.
the ice cream here is really good and light, the ice cream wont leave you with that feeling of guilt.
It's delicious. The cream and the sugar come through equally strong. They'll let you sample the flavors, too - just ask. Like Denville Dairy, this place is so analog that I kind of love it. No ordering ahead, no apps or rewards programs. Just you and yours waiting in anticipation in line, inching towards the front of a crowded store and poring over the menu. I'm sad when they close for the season and thrilled when they open again. I have no idea why different prices for the same thing are listed over all the menus. Make sure you clarify the pricing before you buy if that's a concern of yours.
Ice cream is so fresh! I'm from out of town and came with family. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The servings are generous. I got a small and it was more than enough. We came right before closing and they didn't try to rush us at all. Everyone in my group loved everything they ordered. I definitely would recommend.
How can you not love an old fashioned ice cream shop that's been around for about 50 years? The last time I was at Dover Dairy Maid was over 10 years ago, but it's still as good as I remembered. The ice cream is delicious and we're supporting a local business. Parking is easy with a lot across the street. You wait on a line inside, but it moved quick on a hot Friday night. Prices very reasonable. Stop in here and treat yourself!
Here's the deal: It's a small , cramped place with challenging parking. The reason is because THE ICE CREAM IS DELICIOUS !! The lines move quickly so have some patience! The only thing I wish they would change is having a dedicated line for people who want to buy some "packaged ice cream" instead of waiting online with everyone else. It's CASH ONLY....
